Kyiv mayor Vitalii Klitschko and the mayor of the city of Guangzhou Wen Guohui signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Development of Cooperation between the city of Kyiv and the city of Guangzhou (PRC), the KCSA reports.

“The novel coronavirus pandemic, which is spreading rapidly, has become a real challenge for all states of the world – many countries are closing their borders, stopping transport and production, introducing quarantine and taking all possible measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus within countries and the world. The time has come when countries and cities come together and confront this problem. The city authorities of Kyiv and Guangzhou implemented two joint initiatives against the backdrop of pandemic – an online conference was held in May, at which the doctors of the Kyiv hospitals exchanged practical experience with specialists from the city of Guangzhou on overcoming the consequences of the pandemic. In early August, the People’s Municipal Government of Guangzhou provided humanitarian aid to Kyiv, which was transferred to boarding schools and social institutions in the capital of Ukraine,” the capital’s mayor’s office said.

The Memorandum of Understanding and Development of Cooperation between the city of Kyiv and the city of Guangzhou is a logical continuation of relations and will create the basis for cooperation, exchange of information and strengthening ties in the spheres of economy, trade, science, culture, education, sports, tourism, health care, housing, environmental protection and so on.

Guangzhou is the fifth most populous city in the PRC, is the capital of Guangdong province and one of the largest tourist, industrial, economic, financial and transport centers in China.
