Latvian State Language Center has approved new Latvian names of Ukrainian cities, Delfi reports.
At the request of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, the Latvian Language Expert Commission decided to change the Latvian versions of the names of the Ukrainian cities.
According to the adopted normative act, henceforth in Latvian, Ukrainian Zaporizhia is renamed as Zaporižja, Kryvyi Rih as Krivijriha, Chernihiv as Čerņihiva, Ternopil as Ternopiļa.
