The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Ukraine has named the main challenges Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will face in fall 2019.

The Deputy Foreign Minister for European Integration Olena Zerkal said on Channel 5.

Answering the question “what the biggest challenge in foreign policy Zelensky will face this fall,” Zerkal said the President should start “to act according to his statements.”

“It seems to me that here the question is already to the new government, which will be formed, because the government is an instrument for implementing domestic policy, as well as foreign policy, because the Minister of Foreign Affairs is part of the government. And therefore, all our partners – they expect concrete content, actions related to what has already been declared by the president,” Zerkal said.

The deputy minister was asked to comment on the positive reviews of Western leaders, and, in particular, French President Emmanuel Macron, regarding Zelensky’s steps in achieving peace in Donbas.

“No one wants an escalation of the conflict within Europe. I think that we are not interested in this either. Therefore, of course, that all initiatives related to the further deepening of peace are supported. The question is how these partners are involved in peace promotion. Of course, I would like them to be involved in this process more, not only in the political field, but also on the practical one, so that we have a certain instrument, a mechanism for financially filling these regions, restoring these regions,” the deputy foreign minister emphasized.

Zerkal added that now Ukraine has not used a lot of funds donated to restore Donbas: “This is due to very complicated procedures caused by the inability or unwillingness of local authorities to attract these donor funds.”

As The Journalist reported, Documents to be signed planned at Zelensky-Trump meeting in Warsaw.
