The number of bank branches in Ukraine over the last three months of last year decreased by 195 units – to 7,135 branches. During the year their number decreased by 868. This is evidenced by the data of the National Bank.
Most of the branches (94) in the fourth quarter were closed by the state-owned Oschadbank, reducing their total number to 1,837. During the same period, the nationalized PrivatBank closed 33 branches, reducing their total number to 1,717, and Raiffeisen Bank Aval – 60 branches (up to 396).
The largest increase in the number of branches was at Ukrgasbank – 7 branches, as well as PUMB, Ukreximbank, MTB Bank, MetaBank, RVS Bank – two branches each.
Note that as of January 1, 2021, the number of bank branches was 7,135, while at the beginning of January 2020 there were 8,002 of them. Over the year, the number of bank branches decreased by 868.
