In London (Great Britain) at the third Grand Slam tournament of the season – Wimbledon, the attention of Ukrainian fans is drawn to women perform in doubles.
As noted by sportonline.ua Ukrainian Nadiia Kichenok (38th in the WTA pair rating) in a duet with Australian Anastasia Rodionova (43) defeated Russian woman Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (93) and Australian Samantha Stosur (402) with a score of 6: 2, 6: 4 and went into the second round.
The match lasted 1 hour and 13 minutes. Kichenok and Rodionova made three breaks and played all six break-points that rivals had. Both pairs accounted for one ace, while the winners made three double mistakes, and Pavlyuchenkova and Stosur – four.
In the second round Kichenok and Rodionova will play with the winner of the match between the first seeded Timaea Babosh (Hungary) / Kristina Mladenovic (France) and the Japanese pair Erie Hodzumi / Miyu Kato.
Earlier «Journalist» reported that the leaders of Ukrainian tennis lost in the first tour to opponents and left Wimbledon.
