The law on housing and utility services came into force in Ukraine. From now on, Ukrainians will be charged a penalty for the late payment of utility services, in accordance with the agreements, which need to be concluded within the year, Hromadske reports.
The amount of penalty may be no more than 0.01% of the amount of debt for each day and no more than 100% of the debt as a whole. It will be possible to avoid accrual of penalties if the state has delayed the payment of subsidies or if the employer does not pay the salary and the person can prove it. In addition, the penalty will not be charged if the person did not live in the house.
If the debt will not be repaid in full within 30 days (from the day the consumer receives a warning from the contractor), the service provider (except gas and electricity service) has the right to limit or terminate the provision of services to debtors.
According to the text of the new law, electricity and gas will be supplied exclusively under individual contracts. As for other services – users can decide themselves: to enter into collective or individual contracts.
As The Journalist reported, the Ministry of Social Policy reported that 75% of the recipients of the monetized subsidy paid utility bills on time.
