Starting from June 3, 2020, the National Bank of Ukraine will put UAH 10 coins into circulation. This was reported by the NBU press service.
According to the NBU, the release of this coin will complete the process of hryvnia banknote’s optimization.
“From June 3, 2020, coins with a face value of UAH 10 will become a valid means of payment on the territory of Ukraine, in trading or to carry out operations in banks,” the message reads.
At the first stage, the National Bank plans to put into circulation more than 5 million UAH 10 coins, which will be distributed between NBU divisions in the regions.
The new UAH 10 coin is of small size and weight. It is made of zinc-nickel plating alloy. On the reverse of a coin depicted portrait of the Ukrainian hetman Ivan Mazepa; the face value of the coin framed by an Old Slavic ornament is minted in the center of the coin’s obverse.
