The United States is ready to discuss the lifting of sanctions against the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline from Russia to Europe. However, a number of conditions are being put forward in Washington, writes Handelsblatt, citing a source in the White House.

According to the US representative on the negotiations on the gas pipeline, Germany should offer a “package solution”. One of the points of the document should be the provision of guarantees that the gas transportation system of Ukraine will not be separated from the European gas transportation infrastructure.

In addition, the United States wants to provide for a mechanism to abruptly cut off gas supplies via Nord Stream 2 in the event that gas transit through the Ukrainian gas transportation system is stopped.

Another option for solving the problem is the provision of investments by Germany for the Ukrainian GTS for hydrogen transportation.
