Minister of Energy and Environmental Protection Oleksiy Orzhel has said that the gas price for the population will be equal to the market price starting May 1.
“Yes, it will be a full-fledged market,” Orzhel said, adding that citizens who will not be able to pay market tariffs will receive appropriate support from the state.
Also, according to the minister, the guaranteed gas price will be valid until the end of April.
At the same time, consumers will have the opportunity to refuse the insurance gas price of UAH 6.96 per cubic meter (without transportation and distribution tariffs), which the government offers for the January-April 2020.
“The consumer will have the opportunity to refuse this government proposal. We believe that the date, when consumer at his own request can decide to take or not to take the risks of whether a transit agreement will be signed, will be clearly defined before 2020,” Orzhel said.
The Minister said that in the case of signing a transit contract, gas prices could drop below the insurance price, and in case of non-signing the price could significantly exceed the insurance price.
