French architectural firm Vincent Callebaut Architectures presented a project for the restoration of the Notre Dame Cathedral, which was partially damaged by fire.
Thus, the Belgian architect and author of the idea Vincent Kellbo called his project Palingenesis, which in translation from the Greek language means “rebirth”.
The architects proposed to make a roof and a spire for the cathedral made of glass, oak and carbon fiber. According to the expert’s plan, the roof should generate electricity and heat. In addition, it is proposed to establish passive ventilation of the building, writes RBK-Ukraine.
The project also provides for the creation of a garden for “contemplation and meditation”. Here, according to the experts’ plan, one person will be able to grow up to 25 kg of fruit and vegetables per square meter per year, which will result in a total harvest of 21 tons per year. Grown fruits and vegetables are offered by architects for free.
“The new architecture of the spire as a shroud, raised from the cornerstone, symbolizes the revival, as well as the mystery of the Cathedral and the resurrection of Christ. And under the savanna there are life and renewal, “the author of this idea said.
As reported by the Journalist, the National Assembly of the French Fifth Republic approved a bill for the restoration of Notre Dame.
