The Minister of Energy and Environmental Protection of Ukraine Oleksiy Orzhel has said that the drop in the natural gas cost provides a historic chance to abandon the regulated gas price for the population.
According to the minister, “perhaps the summer gas price will be even lower.”
“This gives a chance to abandon the subsidized gas price. I think we have a great historic moment for Ukrainians to take advantages of the market price and cessation of political influence on it,” Orzhel said.
However, the low natural gas price is holding back investment in gas production in Ukraine, UNIAN reports citing Orzhel, as saying.
