Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has adopted in first reading the draft law “On Amending the Law of Ukraine “On the Social and Legal Protection of Military Personnel and Members of Their Families”.”
Some 340 deputies voted for this decision.
The draft law stipulates that the minimum salary for a soldier (except for military service personnel) cannot be less than the size of two living wages for able-bodied persons established on January 1 of the calendar year, and the minimum salary for military rank is one size of such a living wage.
It is also provided that members of the military service for the entire period of such service are granted leave (10 calendar days) without taking into account the time required to travel to the place of vacation and back.
In addition, military personnel (except for military personnel on an extended military service) who are on a long business trip abroadz are allowed, at their request, to combine annual basic leave for two years. In this case, the total duration of the combined vacation may not exceed 90 calendar days.
At the request of the military, part of the annual basic leave is replaced by monetary compensation. In this case, the duration of the annual leave provided by the military personnel shall not be less than 15 calendar days. The procedure for paying military compensation in lieu of part of the annual basic leave is determined by the government.
