Just a year ago the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security and Defense recommended to build special ammo storage facilities at the arsenal near the Ichnia, where the explosions and fire began.
This was posted by the Chairman of the Committee, Serhiy Pashinsky (the People’s Front faction) on Facebook.
«After the explosions at the ammunition depots in Kalynivka, the Committee carried out an inspection to the third largest ammunition depot in Ichnya, Chernihiv Oblast. It was recommended to allocate funds, urgently develop appropriate construction projects and move all ammunition to special concrete storage facilities. The construction project of storage was transferred to the Ministry of Defense. Also, amandments were made to the legislation, which allowed to simplify the construction of such facilities on the territory of military units. Exactly one year has passed,» – noted Pashinsky.
Also, according to the Head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security and Defense, the version on sabotage at the ammunition depots near Ichnia is not excluded.
«I do not exclude that this is a sabotage, but there would have been no sabotage if all these munitions were stored in concrete depots,» – said Pashinsky.
