Filaret, Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate, Patriarch of Kyiv and All Rus-Ukraine Filaret prayed for Ukraine.
The service was held this morning, May 2, in a special prayer room at the European Parliament headquarters, transfers UNIAN.
Patriarch Filaret prayed for Ukraine, the creation of the single local Orthodox church, for the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, for Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. He also asked for «destroying the intentions of those who go against us», as well as for protection from enemies.
The prayer was partially read in English by one of the Ukrainian priests, who served with the Patriarch.
The service was attended by 20 persons, including the Representative of Ukraine to the EU, Ambassador Nikolai Tochitskyi.
Today Patriarch Filaret is going to take part in two conferences: «The Cost of Russian Aggression in Ukraine: Testimonies of abductions, Tortures and Murders to the Times of Independence: the Orthodox Kyiv Patriarchate and the Challenges of a Changing Society».
As «The Journalist» previously reported, the Ecumenical Patriarchate is launching procedures required for granting autocephaly to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
