PM Shmygal headed interdepartmental coordination commission for regional development

On September 2, the Government made changes to the composition of the Interdepartmental Coordination Commission for Regional Development, developed by the Ministry of Regional Development.

According to the adopted resolution “On Amendments to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 714 dated September 16, 2015”, the Prime Minister Denys Shmygal was appointed Chairman of the Interdepartmental Commission, Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksiy Chernyshov was appointed First Deputy Chairman, Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers Oleh Nemchynov and State Secretary of Cabinet of Ministers Oleksandr Yarema were appointed Deputy Chairmen.

On August 5, the government adopted the New State Regional Development Strategy for 2021-2027. The document was developed by experts and specialists of the Ministry of Regional Development, the President’s Office, other ministries and local executive authorities, associations and international organizations.

“The approval of the New State Regional Development Strategy for 2021 – 2027 requires the development of an action plan for its implementation. We need to consolidate the efforts of the central and local authorities, support of the parliament and the president, and the conscious participation of society and citizens. The adoption of this decree will contribute to the introduction of an intersectoral approach and the development of an effective step-by-step action plan for each region,” Chernyshov said.

The main tasks of the Interdepartmental Commission include the promotion of the digital transformation of regions, the digitalization of processes for monitoring regional and local development.

Organizational, informational, material and technical support for the activities of the Interdepartmental Commission is entrusted to the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers.
