The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal has ordered to take urgent measures to improve financial situation of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Genetics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, which developed domestic rapid tests for the diagnosis of coronavirus, the Verkhovna Rada press service reports.

The Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Olena Kondratiyk asked the Prime Minister to take measures for proper funding and smooth operation of the Institute staff, who developed rapid tests for the diagnosis of coronavirus, but were sent on vacation.

“They created coronavirus rapid tests, however, according to medias, they were sent on unpaid leave in the midst of a pandemic. I think this is unacceptable situation,” Kondratiyk emphasized.

Thus, in response to the MP’s appeal, Denys Shmygal instructed the leadership of the Ministry of Health and the National Academy of Sciences to take urgent measures to correct the situation.

“I hope that in such difficult times, the Cabinet of Ministers will respond quickly and develop worthy answers to the challenges associated with the coronavirus,” the parliamentarian is convinced.
