President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko backs compulsory debates of candidates for the presidency.
“Ukrainian people should reject those candidates, who are trying to sell pig in a poke. Ukrainian people have the right to know what awaits them, what their future is,” the president said.
Poroshenko called ‘suicidal’ the refusal of the candidate from the debate.
“Therefore, I firmly believe that the debate should take place without legislative changes. Moreover, of course, Ukrainians have to made relevant conclusions about those candidates, who refuse to debate. It means that they have something to hide, there is something they afraid of,” Poroshenko added.
It should be noted that on March 21, MPs from BPP political party, Iryna Herashchenko and Maria Ionova, registered a bill providing for the mandatory televised debates of candidates for the presidency of Ukraine before the second round of presidential elections and deregistration of a candidate if he does not participate in these televised debates.
As The Journalist reported, Poroshenko said that Putin is his only opponent.
