President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed the law «On Basic Principles and Requirements for Organic Production, Turnover and Labeling of Organic Production», adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on July 10th.
As the press service of the head of state, the implementation of the norms of this document will ensure the improvement and harmonization of legislation Ukraine with the legislation of the European Union in the field of production and turnover of organic products and will help create transparent business conditions, reduce unfair competition, increase the competitiveness of domestic organic products and expand foreign markets for its sale.
The law establishes the basic principles and requirements for organic production, circulation and labeling of organic products, the basis for the legal regulation of organic production, the turnover of organic products and the functioning of the market for such products.
Legal basis for the activity of the central executive authorities, the subjects of the market of organic products and the direction of state policy in this sphere are also defined.
