President Petro Poroshenko has said that the Hungarian authorities are trying to create a parallel reality in relations with Ukraine.

The Head of State said this on August 28, at the 13th meeting of heads of foreign diplomatic institutions of Ukraine.

«In recent years, we have learned to be foreign policy pragmatists and the best option for us is to continue playing, even in the most difficult parties. In this game, our Ambassador in Hungary, perhaps, has already become a Grandmaster. Unfortunately, Budapest is trying to create some sort of parallel reality in its relations with Ukraine. Both we and the Hungarians are protecting [our] languages. I would like to emphasize that we are doing this on our own land and we strictly comply with the international standards, trying to provide absolutely equal opportunities for all national minorities. I believe that Ukraine’s stance is well grounded,» – Poroshenko stressed.

Addressing the ambassador of Ukraine in Hungary, Lyubov Nepop, he noted that he supports her activities.

«You have the support of the President to continue to hold this position in the Hungarian direction,» – the President said.

In her turn, the Ambassador thanked the President for support and noted that Ukraine demonstrates readiness for a constructive dialogue with Hungary, which should be based on the protection of Ukrainian national interests, in the constructive manner of partners, and on the understanding that the Ukrainian people’s chosen course for the European and Euro-Atlantic integration cannot be the subject of bargaining.

As The Journalist reported, Hungary claims Ukraine is unable to the European Union and NATO through its own fault.
