President Petro Poroshenko received the delegation of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, who arrived in Ukraine to attend the liturgy and the role of enthronement of the head of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine Metropolitan of Kiev and All Ukraine Epiphany.
According to the Presidential Administration, the meeting was held on the eve of February 3.
Poroshenko noted that the Orthodox Church of Ukraine had a great way to unite and receive Tomos on autocephaly, which became possible, including thanks to efforts of exarchs of Ecumenical Patriarchate.
Metropolitan Emmanuel, in turn, assured the head of state in the constant support of Ukraine and new Orthodox Church on the part of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
"His Holiness was moving forward in the issue of giving autocephaly to the Ukrainian Church, because the people of Ukraine asked for this," said Metropolitan.
Metropolitan Emmanuel added that in the delegation there is an abbot of the Athos monastery Xenophon Archimandrite Alexius. It was in this monastery that the text of Tomas was written about autocephaly of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
As reported by Journalist, Poroshenko filed documents with the CEC.
