Relatives of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundreds are going to apply to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) about the state’s failure to exercise their right to judicial protection.
“Lawyers representing the interests of the victims, are thinking about a change of tactics. If earlier we were on the side of the prosecution and hoped to ensure the investigation and trial (criminal proceedings), today we state the state’s failure to comply with the requirements of the human rights convention, in particular to ensure the right to a prompt and effective investigation and trial. Therefore, we will think about applying to the ECHR to establish the fact of this violation,” UNIAN quotes lawyer Vitalii Tytych, representing the interests of families whose relatives were killed during the Revolution of Dignity.

“Unfortunately, we have to state the disinterest of high officials in state in these investigations, despite all declarations and assurances. Moreover, we register opposition and obstacles on the part of authorities,” said the coordinator of the public initiative “Euromaidan SOS”, Oleksandra Matviychuk.
She explained that the investigation of Maidan’s cases is hampered by Prosecutor General’s Office, leadership of Ministry of Internal Affairs and Security Service of Ukraine.
