The Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA) ordered to remove an English-language banner, supporting the political prisoner of Putin’s regime Oleg Sentsov, from the Film Union hall (Budynok Kino).

As reported by Hromadske Radio, this order was given by the acting Director of the KP «Kievreklama» Alexander Smirnov, because there was no necessary permission for installing the banner.

«This is the question about structure with permission or structure without permission. And the fact that the banner is political or not – this is not a question of the KSCA. This is already to the State Service of Ukraine for Consumer Protection, which has the right to check the content for legitimacy», – Mr Smirnov said.

It is reported that the reason for banner removal was the fact the activists did not have a special permission to install it. There were no political motives.

«There is a law. And if you make an exception showing the law can be broken with a good intention, then it is not quite the law. We all are waiting for the laws to start working (in Ukraine- ed.)», – Alexander Smirnov said.

As «The Journalist» previously reported, an action in support of Ukrainian filmmaker Oleg Sentsov was held outside Consulate of Russia in Kiev.
