The head of the Executive Committee of the National Council for Reforms under the President of Ukraine, Mikheil Saakashvili, said that during a meeting with representatives of business associations and Attorney General Iryna Venediktova, were discussed protective measures business from excessive pressure of law enforcement agencies.
“For the first time in the history of the prosecutor’s office of Ukraine, the prosecutor general met with representatives of leading business associations at a round table. During a very substantive and sometimes tough conversation were discussed protective measures business from excessive pressure of law enforcement agencies. Members of the parliament were also present at the meeting,” Saakashvili said, adding that “Venediktova is absolutely open to such a dialogue.”
According to the head of the Executive Committee of the National Council for Reforms under the President, the meeting participants “agreed to establish a department for the protection of investments, as well as biennial meeting of the working group would be held that would put an end to the illegal interference of the SBU, prosecutors, tax police and others into the economy.”
“That, finally, will allow businesses to work safely, save the economy and save the country,” Saakashvili emphasized.
At the same time, according to the information of the Office of the Prosecutor General, the participants discussed ways to reduce pressure on the business, increase its confidence in law enforcement agencies and reduce corruption to improve the investment climate in the country.
“Without proper investment climate, the state cannot develop. The prosecutor’s office will coordinate law enforcement agencies so they acted in accordance with the law and do not undermine investor confidence in our country. We need daily work to achieve real changes in this matter. Therefore, we will now consider the possibility of creating an investment protection department at the Office of the Prosecutor General,” Venediktova said.
