Counterintelligence department of the Security Service of Ukraine has exposed a member of illegal armed groups who actively resisted the anti-terrorist operation forces, including in the area of the Donetsk airport. The offender was sentenced in absentia to 10 years in prison. The press service of the department reported.
According to the investigation, a native of the village of Ocheretino, Donetsk region, in May 2014 joined the militant group “Vostok”. As part of an illegal armed group, he participated in hostilities against the Ukrainian military and law enforcement agencies in the area of Donetsk airport, as well as near Saur-Mohyla, Yasynivka, Panteleymonivka, Betmanovo, Pisky and Avdiivka.
Now the militant is hiding from justice in the territory of the Donetsk region temporarily non-controlled by the Ukrainian authorities. The convict was put on the wanted list for committing a crime under Part 1 of Art. 258-3 (participation in a terrorist group or terrorist organization) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
