The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) counterintelligence officers exposed the ex-employee of one of the research institutes while trying to transfer secret data to the foreign intelligence service.

Operatives established that the scientist was recruited by representatives of foreign intelligence services, Ukrayinska Pravda reports.

“According to the curators plan, a man had to transfer secret materials on radio-emitting technologies, which have no analogues in the world, for a monetary reward. Law enforcers detained the man in Kyiv while he attempted to illegally transfer secret information,” the statement reads.

The detainee was declared suspected of having committed a crime under Article 111 (high treason) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Investigative actions are continuing.

As The Journalist reported, all the metro transfer stations in the center of Kyiv were mined.
