The commander of the battalion “Donbas” Semen Semenchenko poured into the social network a detailed route for withdraw routes of Ukrainian fighters from Debaltseve in February 2015.
“September 5, it will be five years soon. It was not agreed in Minsk. This date (September 5) was agreed in Wales, Cardiff at the NATO summit. This is the first time I’m talking about this. It was a miracle. When I was going to the NATO summit nobody believed that we would be able to sign and stop the Russian offensive. We used the time when the Minsk agreements began to operate,” the fifth president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said in an interview with Ukrainian Truth.
The former head of state also said that the Minsk agreements began to operate “not from twelve in the morning, not from ten, not from twelve in the afternoon, but from eighteen, because the 95th and 79th paratroopers units under the leadership of Muzhenko and Zabrodsky were supposed to return from the raid.”
“If there had not been this raid, maybe Minsk (agreements) would not have been too. Because they did not understand what forces we had in the rear, and constantly received information that units of the Russian army were fighting with the Ukrainian paratroopers who had appeared from nowhere. At 18:00 they went beyond the contact line and Minsk agreements entered into force,” Poroshenko specified.
“Well, I definitely don’t want anyone to spend such a night when our forces started to leave Debaltseve, and a detailed exit route was published on FB page of (Semen) Semenchenko. It was horrible! After all, a “top secret” withdrawal order was handed to Semenchenko, who put it on the FB. And then you sit and think – well, how?! How right now, at night, without means of communication – because there was complete radio silence – to change routes in order to save people. It was difficult. In that situation everyone will believe in God,” the politician recalls.
Poroshenko noted that Ukraine destroyed the plan of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, by which he wanted to punish Ukraine for the Revolution of Dignity.
INFO: In February 2015, the Russian-led terrorists launched a large-scale attack on Debaltseve settlement, despite the ceasefire agreement, reached in Minsk. On February 18, the Ukrainian military began a withdrawal from Debaltseve, which ended the next day in the evening.
During the combat actions in the Debaltseve area from January 15 to February 18, 2015, in total 110 soldiers were killed, 270 were wounded, 7 were captured and 18 were missing.
