On April 3 the government at its meeting approved a draft resolution “On the International Ballet Competition named after Serge Lifar”, developed on the initiative of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine.

The project provides for the holding of a biennial international ballet competition named after Serge Lifar in Ukraine, which will contribute to the development and popularization of national culture, support talented creative youth, expand international cultural relations, promote the best examples of classical and modern choreographic art, perpetuate the memory of an outstanding artist, choreographer and theorist of dance of the twentieth century, Serge Lifar.
Recall that the International Competition of Ballet Artists and Choreographers named after Serge Lifar is an international festival of ballet art, dedicated to the memory of the outstanding ballet dancer of the 20th century, Ukrainian Serge Lifar. The festival was originally held in Kyiv, was founded in 1994 by art historian academician Yurii Stanishevsky, and traditionally was held under the patronage of the UNESCO World Dance Council.
