Six senators from the Republican and Democratic parties introduced a draft law on toughening economic, political and diplomatic pressure on the Russian Federation by imposing stiff new sanctions on her.

According to the website of Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham, bipartisan group of U.S. senators have presented the bill «American security from Kremlin aggression», Reuters reports.

Along with Graham, the bill was introduced by Democratic Senators Bob Menendez, Ben Cardin and Jeanne Shaheen, as well as from the Republicans Cory Gardner and John McCain.

«The current sanctions regime has failed to deter Russia from meddling in the upcoming 2018 midterm elections (elections to the House of Representatives and the Senate will mostly be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 – ed.),» – Graham said.

«Our goal is to change the status quo and impose crushing sanctions and other measures against Putin’s Russia until he ceases and desists meddling in the US electoral process, stops cyberattacks on US infrastructure, removes Russia from Ukraine, and ceases all efforts to create a mess in Syria,» – said Graham.

As The Journalist reported, EU imposes sanctions against another six Russian companies over Crimean Bridge construction.
