Some 1.5 million people evacuate as typhoon approaches Japan

About 1,560,000 residents of the southwestern part of Japan were urged to evacuate their homes, NHK reports.

As of the morning of September 7, evacuation orders had been issued for Fukuoka, Saga, Nagasaki, Kumamoto and Kagoshima prefectures.

Large-scale evacuation is carried out due to the fact that typhoon No 10 [Japan terminology – ed.] is approaching this region.

Recommendations to evacuate immediately apply to more than 4,630,000 people in 10 prefectures.
