EU Council prolongs sanctions against Yanukovych and his 11 associates for one year

The EU Council approved the decision to extend until March 6, 2020, sanctions against the former President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and eleven of his associates.

According to the report on the Council website, legal documents on the extension of restrictive measures will be published on March 5.

"The EU Council extended until March 6, 2020, the asset freezes directed against 12 persons identified as responsible for the misappropriation of Ukrainian state funds or for the abuse of office causing a loss to Ukrainian public funds," the statement said.

At the same time, the restrictive measures against one person were not extended. This decision is based on the annual review of the measures. The name of this person is not disclosed.

Recall that last week, the sanctions were removed from the ex-head of the Presidential Administration of Yanukovych, Andriy Klyuev.

As The Journalist reported, EU will allocate EUR 50 mln for supporting security in Azov.
