SpaceX Corporation has launched the Indonesian communications satellite Nusantara Satu and Beresheet lunar spacecraft of the Israeli company SpaceIL. This information was reported by the company in its Twitter.
Beresheet probe was deployed first and began an independent mission to the moon. The company confirmed the successful separation and launch of the satellite Nusantara Satu, thus successfully completing the 70th mission of SpaceX.
“The successful separation of the SpaceIL lunar lander has been confirmed. The two-month trip of the spacecraft to the moon begins,” the report says.
Beresheet should perform a soft landing, travel 500 meters across the surface of the moon, take photographs and transfer them to Earth. The lunar spacecraft is the first ever probe created with private money.
