State budget 2019 sees UAH 72.4 bln deficit

The state budget deficit in 2019 amounted to UAH 72.4 billion, or about 1.8% of the gross domestic product (GDP), according to the latest data from the State Treasury Service of Ukraine.

This was stated by the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine regarding the closure of the 2019 fiscal year.

“The state budget deficit was financed by borrowing, as revenues from privatization amounted to only UAH 0.5 billion. In December, the Ministry of Finance, taking into account the favorable situation on the domestic market, carried out super-planned state borrowings in the amount of UAH 4.7 billion to ensure the prevention of liquidity crisis in the state budget at the beginning of the financial year,” the report says.
