The Minister of Health of Ukraine Maksym Stepanov said that the number of hospitalizations of patients with coronavirus has increased significantly in Ukraine, and urged local authorities to tighten control over compliance with quarantine to stop the increase in disease cases. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Health.

According to Stepanov, the number of hospitalizations has increased from 749 cases in the period from May 18 – 24, to 1,410 cases from June 22 – 28.

“I want to remind that hospitalization is necessary for individuals with moderate or severe symptoms pf decease. I understand that it’s very unpopular to introduce additional quarantine restrictions and monitor compliance with the recommendations of the Health Ministry, since everyone has already begun to live in the conditions of the election campaign. But now I am turning to the authorities: think about the health of your voters who will come to vote in October. All attempts to flirt with voters due to lack of control already lead and will lead to a worsening of the pandemic situation and endanger their life and health,” Maksym Stepanov said.

He also noted that he understands the desire of Ukrainians to relax on holidays, but called for compliance with quarantine rules.

“It is clear that people want to go to the beach for the weekend. This is understandable and this is the development of our domestic tourism. But a complete disregard for the recommendations of the Ministry of Health is not how the process should take place. In the news we see what happened in night clubs, on the beaches – people not wearing masks, not observing the social distance, not using antiseptics. This all leads to an increase in the COVID-19 incidence rate. It’s all about your health, take care of yourself and your loved ones!” Stepanov noted.

Stepanov: Health Ministry will refinance Ukrainian hospitals from July 1.
