By 2030, population of Ukraine will decrease by 6.8% – to 39.5 million people, while the share of the working-age population will decrease by 12% – to 24 million.

According to Ella Libanova, director of the Institute of Social Research Demography of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the main reason for the decline in the level of the working population is the outflow of people abroad.

"The population, taking into account Donbass, but excluding the Crimea, from the current 42.2 million people at the beginning of 2031 will drop to 39.5 million," reports Telegraph.

At the same time, Libanova noted that the number of working-age population (by European standards from 20 to 64 years) will decrease from the current figures of 26.9 million – to 24 million people.
Such a significant decrease in the population will not be leveled, affecting the birth rate or mortality, since the main reason is the trend of increasing labor migration of the population of Ukraine.

“Two years ago, Ukrainian business was confident that shortage of labor would never touch them. Now they have thought better of it and realized that this is reality of situation in Ukraine,” noted the director of Institute of Social Studies Demography of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

As reported by "Journalist", Ukrzaliznytsia cuts trains to Russia and is reoriented towards the European Union.
