Turkey intends to build its very own military aircraft

This statement was made by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Ukrinform reports.

“I hope that just as we independently built our own corvette, created an Atak helicopter, combat UAVs, satellites, we will have our own military jet. This time is near,” Erdogan said, speaking in Istanbul at the commissioning ceremony of the TCG Kınalıada warship.

Erdogan emphasized that the country is one of the 100 largest defense manufacturers in the world, while continuing to reduce its dependence on other states.

“Our defense exports last year totaled USD 2.5 billion. If you woke the sleeping giant, be prepared for the consequences,” Erdogan said.
