Turkey, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Turkish Republic Andriy Sibiga has said that Turkey has agreed to provide Ukraine with medical assistance in the fight against coronavirus, Ukrinform reports.

“We have defined procedure for assisting Ukraine in the context of fight COVID-19. If Turkey will experience sufficient quantity of products, in particular for its own needs, and it has the opportunity to export this goods, we can purchase it in accordance with reached agreement. We are constructively working with the Turkish side on this matter,” Sibiga emphasized.

The ambassador noted that after a phone conversation between the heads of state on April 1, Turkey officially authorized the export of medical products subject to a certain procedure: Turkish manufacturers must apply for permission to a pre-defined body to export goods.

Also, Ukraine sent to Turkish business a list of medical goods necessary for its needs and have already received more than a hundred proposals.

“There were many different offers: from 3D printers for the manufacture of masks to other objects and materials that are urgently needed. It is very pleasant that the Turkish side responds in this way,” Sibiga added.

Sibiga noted that Bashkent University in Ankara sent 3,500 surgical masks and 100 surgical gowns to Ukrainian doctors.
