On Monday, November 16, a draft decree signed by President Erdogan on sending military personnel to Azerbaijan was submitted to the Turkish parliament, Evropeyskaya Pravda reports.

The text of the decree says that the Turkish military will be involved in the framework of the Joint Turkish-Russian Observation Center for Nagorno-Karabakh.

“The center will be operated by military personnel and, if necessary, civilian specialists. The work of the center will be aimed at ensuring peace and stability in the South Caucasus in the light of steps to ensure the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, which is reflected in the relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council and OSCE. Sending military personnel to Azerbaijan also meets the national interests of Turkey,” the message reads.

Last week a memorandum of understanding by representatives of Turkey and the Russian Federation was signed. It provides for the creation of a joint Russian-Turkish center to monitor compliance with the silence regime in Nagorno-Karabakh.
