Turkish scientists have created a device that can diagnose coronavirus in 10 seconds. This is achieved through advanced optical technology, the website of Bilkent University reports.
A sample of the oral mucosa is used to determine coronavirus infection. The principle of operation of the Diagnovir device is based on color changes if the virus is present. Unlike PCR tests, the system is not based on replication of samples, but on the detection of the presence/absence of a virus using advanced optical methods.
The device has shown a 99% efficiency in detecting viruses in preclinical studies.
