U.S. to open DEA office in Ukraine in 2020

U.S. Embassy DEA Attaché in Warsaw Jason Schumacher, during a meeting with the First Deputy Chief of the National Police, Vyacheslav Abroskin, stated that the United States Embassy intends to open an office of US Drug Enforcement Agency in Kyiv in 2020. This was reported by the press service of the National Police of Ukraine.

Jason Schumacher praised the existing cooperation with the Ukraine’s Department of Combating Drug Crime that are part of the National Police of Ukraine.

“We value our partnership, our joint work and its results. We are working hard to open a DEA office in Kyiv. In particular, the US Embassy is making every effort to open it. Therefore, I’m sure that in 2020 the office will work,” he said.

Schumacher noted that 92 DEA offices have been deployed to 70 countries.

Vyacheslav Abroskin, in his turn, noted that the performance of employees of the Department of Combating Drug Crime is the highest over the past 25 years.

During the meeting, the parties paid special attention to further cooperation in countering international drug crime.
