The UK is the first country to begin using the coronavirus vaccine developed by AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford as of today, January 4th. This vaccine is less demanding on the temperature conditions of transportation. Reported by Reuters.

The first of approximately 530,000 doses will be administered in 6 hospitals in England.

The program will be expanded to hundreds of other UK sites in the coming days, and the government hopes it will deliver tens of millions of doses within a few months.

“This is a turning point in our fight against this terrible virus, and I hope it will instill new hope in everyone that the end of this pandemic is near,” said Health Secretary Matt Hancock.

Last month, the UK became the first country to use another vaccine from Pfizer and BioNTech, which must be stored at very low temperatures. To date, the UK has vaccinated about a million people with it.
