Ukraine, EU to cooperation in the space sphere

Ukrainian representatives of the State Space Agency of Ukraine (SSAU) visited Brussels on May 28 to sign an Agreement on cooperation with the European Commission in space sphere. This was reported by the press service of the State Space Agency of Ukraine.
The report notes that the signed document provides the extension of the benefits of the European Union’s Copernicus Earth Observation and monitoring program beyond the territory of the EU.
The Copernicus program gives advantages in monitoring of land, water and the atmosphere. In addition, is provided support for forecasting, managing and mitigating the negative consequences of natural disasters.

«Ukrainian citizens, scientists, researchers and the private sector will receive full, free and open access to the Sentinel satellites, which were developed for the specific needs of the Copernicus programme. They use a high-speed connection between data hubs»,- the message said.

It is also noted that each of the parties will finance its activities themselves and will adhere to the on a non-exchange of funds principle within the framework of the cooperation agreement.
As «The Journalist» earlier reported, Ukraine and Belarus will cooperate in the development of new technologies for the space sector and Moon exploration.
