As part of the events for the 85th anniversary of Holodomor, Ukraine will help with grain to countries suffering from hunger, namely Yemen, Sudan and Congo as a sign of solidarity.
According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on social network Facebook, the Foreign Ministry ensures that the world community recognizes Holodomor of 1932-1933 as Ukrainian genocide people.
Head of t Foreign Affairs and Humanitarian Cooperation Department of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Laryssa Dyr reported that the embassies, together with the Ukrainian community abroad, are actively holding commemorative events for the 85th anniversary of Holodomor 1932-1933. In particular, over the course of 2017-2018, more than 180 events were held in more than 50 countries of the world – conferences, round tables, forums, exhibitions in parliaments, government agencies, and international organizations.
It is also said that, for the first time, embassies and communities hold for 85 days a daily international event «Light a Candle of Memory», which began on September 1 of this year and has already united thousands of people in more than 60 countries of the world. The action will end on November 24 in Kyiv on the Day of Remembrance of Victims of Holodomor.
«In a sign of solidarity with the needy and commemorating the victims of the Holodomor, Ukraine will provide humanitarian aid to grain for countries suffering from hunger. In this regard, the Foreign Ministry, supporting the initiative of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, prepared a draft decree of the President of Ukraine “On the provision of humanitarian assistance to the Republic of Yemen, the Republic of Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo», the statement reads.
