The government, with the active support of the president, took the necessary measures to pay wages to miners this year, the Energy Ministry said, recalling that in the summer the ministry paid off the current wage arrears to the miners.
“Now it is planned to provide another UAH 1.4 billion for the State Budget for paying salaries to miners by the end of the year and repaying debts that have arisen since September. These funds should come from mandatory payments by Naftogaz and Ukrnafta, the corresponding bill No. 4119 was adopted in the first reading by the people’s deputies,” the Ministry of Energy said.
It is noted that the coronavirus Fund was not used to pay off debts to miners. But this bill will contribute to its replenishment by UAH 8.9 billion, which should also come from payments by Naftogaz and Ukrnafta to the state budget. For this, the parliament must pass the specified bill as a whole.
“Throughout the year, we ensured the payment of wages to miners and repayment of current debts to the maximum. I am grateful to the government and people’s deputies for effective solutions and the opportunity to reach 100% of the state’s calculations for the workers of the coal industry, without burdening special funds, in particular the coronavirus Fund. Moreover, for the opportunity to fill this Fund,” the Acting Minister of Energy Olha Buslavets said.
