Minister of Health of Ukraine Maksym Stepanov and Minister of Health of the Federal Republic of Germany Jens Spahn during a phone conversation discussed issues of clinical research and coronavirus vaccines access, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine reports:

“Ukraine is grateful to the EU and Germany for the direct financial contribution and political support of the COVAX global initiative, thanks to which Ukraine will be able to receive vaccine doses for 20% of the population. However, in this case, we will have more than 30 million people who need vaccines from other sources.”

According to him, Ukraine will also look for sources of vaccine supplies for vaccination of all risk groups.

In his turn, Jens Spahn noted that Germany is ready to return to the conversation about Ukraine’s vaccine access as soon as it becomes clear which vaccines will undergo clinical trials:

“We are satisfied with our bilateral cooperation; I also want to express my delight with the implementation of a rather ambitious reform in the field of Ukraine’s healthcare system.”

Maksym Stepanov expressed hope that the dialogue between the Ukrainian and German Ministry of Health will continue.
