Ukraine, Belarus began demarcation work in the Chernobyl exclusion zone

On April 9, 2019, Joint Ukrainian-Belarusian group conduct works defining the demarcation line in the area of Chornobyl exclusion zone, the State Border Service reported.

“On April 9, 2019, demarcation work began in the exclusion zone of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. The joint working group defining the demarcation line on the ground and determines the places where the border signs need to be installed,” the border guards said.

The ministry also noted that the demarcation work on this section of the state border are held under the 2019 plan of demarcation line operations between Ukraine and Belarus. It was approved during the 20th session of the inter-governmental demarcation committee in January this year.
