On October 6, the acting Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Serhii Shkarlet met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Belgium to Ukraine Alex Lenaerts, the Ministry of Education and Science reports.

During the meeting were discussed topical issues of regulation of bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and Belgium in the field of science and technology.

“In my opinion, the conclusion of a bilateral agreement will open up opportunities for enhancing scientific activity, conducting joint research between universities and scientific institutions of both countries,” Serhii Shkarlet stressed.

According to him, today Ukrainian scientists already have established contacts with scientific institutions of the Kingdom of Belgium. So, since 2017, according to the Scopus abstract database, there are already 32 collaborations between scientific institutions of the two countries and 945 joint scientific publications have been prepared.

The parties emphasized that such examples of cooperation can serve as a good basis for further intensifying scientific research between scientists from Ukraine and Belgium and become an impetus for strengthening cooperation at the interdepartmental or intergovernmental levels.
