Ukraine celebrates the Infantry Day on May 6, 2019. The holiday was established by the Presidential decree dated April 19, 2019 to commemorate the heroism of soldiers of mechanized, motorized infantry, mountain assault military units and units of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.
Mechanized, motorized and mountain assault military units form the basis of the Ukrainian Ground Forces and carry out tasks on holding the areas, boundaries and positions occupied, repelling attacks and breaking through the enemy’s defense, capturing important areas, boundaries and facilities.
In addition, mechanized squads and tank units are used to surround and defeat the enemy and perform other tasks.
As of today, the Ukrainian infantry as the most numerous branch of the army and the basis of the combat capabilities of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, bear the greatest load and play a crucial role in fulfilling the tasks of the Ukrainian Joint Forces.
