State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Mr. Andriy Zayats said that there are no Ukrainian ambassadors in 16 countries.
According to Interfax-Ukraine, appointments will begin at the beginning of 2020.
“The number of vacancies is insignificant now. Moreover, I do not think at all that each embassy should be headed by an ambassador. This is a normal international practice. This level of representation depends on the activity of bilateral relations. Now, except for those 11 colleagues who were relieved of their posts a few weeks ago, we have no more than five vacant posts of ambassadors. And I do not include the post of ambassador to the Russian Federation,” the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in an interview.
However, Zayats clarified that the process of updating the embassy corps will continue.
“The newly appointed minister and the president will work to select worthy people, and I am sure that by the beginning of 2020, appointments of new heads of Ukrainian diplomatic missions abroad will begin,” the Ukrainian diplomat emphasized.
As The Journalist reported, Zelensky to replace 12 Ukrainian ambassadors.
