Ukraine drops in global competitiveness ranking

The Global Competitiveness Report 2019, in which the World Economic Forum (WEF) publishes its assessment of the competitiveness of 141 countries of the world, puts Ukraine in 85th place. This was reported in the WEF annual report.

Ukraine dropped two places overall in comparison to 2018. Last year it was in 83rd place. The average competitiveness index of 141 countries is 61 points. Ukraine with 57.0 points is below average.

According to WEF, Singapore is the most competitive economy in the world in 2019, ahead of the United States, which dropped to second place. The five leaders included Hong Kong (3rd place), the Netherlands (4th place) and Switzerland (5th place).

In its assessment, WEF took into account 103 indicators, which were divided into 12 categories that cover the socio-economic elements: institutions, infrastructure, ICT implementation, macroeconomic stability, health, skills, goods market, labor market, financial system, market size, business dynamism and innovative potential.

As The Journalist reported, Ukraine took 64th place at social level of development among 146 countries.
