Ukraine, Estonia signed memorandum of cooperation in digital transformations

The purpose of the Memorandum is to create and develop collaborative mechanisms to facilitate actions aimed at defining a common vision and joint action for sustainable digital development, building digital economy, implementing digital innovations, building e-mobile governance, developing e-democracy, information society, digital skills and digital rights of citizens, national electronic information resources, broadband Internet and telecommunications infrastructure, e-commerce and IT industry. In accordance with the Memorandum, cooperation can take various forms, the President’s Office noted.

Zelensky also acquainted with the e-Estonia administration system in Tallinn, during his visit of the exhibition pavilion of the Estonian Center for Electronic Administration.

According to Liina Maria Lepik, managing director of the e-Estonia Center, Estonia started introducing digital services back in 1994. Now 99% of public services in this country provided online. In his turn, Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine is implementing a similar project called “The State in a Smartphone”.

Lepik also announced the E-residence system, which helps to simplify obtaining a residence permit.

“It is important to decentralize information so that all data not to be stored in one cloud,” she emphasized.
